Today marks 2 years since William’s open heart surgery in Edmonton at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. When I think back over the last few years I think of how grateful I am that William’s hole in his heart was repaired and pulmonary veins re-routed so that he can continue to grow and be the amazing little boy he his.
William has always spoke so well and now that he is five it’s hard to get him to stop talking. William loves to ask questions, to learn and to share his knowledge of everything from NHL hockey teams to what his thoughts are on how a certain task should be done properly! I still remember when he compared the patch on his heart to patching a hole in a tire. This was before his surgery and he was just 3 years old.
My mom once said to me that your children are your greatest teachers and I definitely see that. William is continually teaching me to be patient, to listen, to be in the moment and to always be grateful.
February 10th is a day I will always remember but now on this day we can celebrate William’s strength and the amazing boy he is!
